What Are The Easiest Meals To Cook While Camping?
Eating some of the world’s most delicious foods can be a daunting task while camping. You want to make sure that you have the best food because your taste buds and stomach will be craving it.
That is why I have decided to go ahead and put together a list of some of the easiest meals to cook while camping.
You will notice that several recipes include staples that many campers use, such as rice or potatoes, as well as other instant mixes that knowledge is required to use this information.
1. Pasta
This one is probably the easiest meal to cook while camping. All you need to cook pasta in a pot of boiling water, some olive oil, salt and pepper, dried basil, and an assortment of pasta.
Of course, this meal can be changed up to fit your own taste buds by adding vegetables or other spices. You will want to cook your pasta for a few minutes and then drain all the water out of it before putting it back into the pot with some olive oil for additional flavor.
2. Fried Potatoes
You can pretty much cook any type of potatoes, especially if they are peeled. You want to slice them up and fry them with some sort of oil, onions, garlic and salt and pepper. If you have butter or milk available, mixing that into the potatoes is a delicious way to prepare them.
3. Baked Potatoes
Baked potatoes are probably one of the easiest meals to cook while camping. Most campers will have a fire going and the ability to cook on it. So all you need is some salt and pepper, maybe a little butter or sour cream and you have a delicious baked potato.
You can also add other ingredients to the potato before you cook them to give it more flavor. Some of the most common additions are bacon bits, shredded cheese, fresh chives, mushrooms, or even some salsa.
4. Soups
Soups are a great way to fill yourself up while camping. All you need is a pot or pan and maybe some bread to go with it.
You can also add other things into your soup, saving yourself the trouble of bringing items such as vegetables and seasoning. I recommend adding shredded cheese, cooked bacon, and a cubed block of beef that has already been cooked.
5. Corned Beef Hash
Corned beef hash is an English-style meal that can be made easily while camping. You will want to fry some of your potatoes and then add in some corned beef, shredded cheese, and some milk or beef broth.
The great thing about this meal is the fact that you can use canned corned beef instead of having to cook one yourself.
6. Hash browns and eggs
This is one of the simplest meals that you can make while camping. You want to take your potatoes, shred them and then fry them with whatever animal fats that you have available.
Next, you want to add in some onions, salt and pepper and any other seasonings that you would like to use. Once the hash browns are ready, place an egg into each skillet and let it sit for about 5 minutes until the egg is cooked enough for your liking.
7. Bread
You can also make bread while camping, which is a very easy meal to prepare. Just take your bread and coat it with some oil before placing it into a pan over the fire.
Once the bread begins to brown on one side, flip it over and continue frying it until both sides are done. If you feel like you need an accompaniment to your bread, consider eating it with some jelly or honey.
